The 'in line' Tee by franklythelabel x Amanda Jones

“everything in my life is perfectly in line, it’s just not a straight line’….

There’s nothing more timeless than a quality, crisp white tee.   You’ll catch me in one most days of the week.  I always feel most myself and comfortable in such an easy everyday basic.   That’s where the idea sparked. I wanted to create a tee that changes the ‘basic white tee’ narrative.  You are what you wear, and everyone deserves to feel good about that.

“everything in my life is perfectly in line, it’s just not a straight line”… to me says it all.

We all need to hear that from time to time.  Imagine those words printed on a tee, for a gentle reminder to self, words to mull over with a friend or to land on a stranger walking past in a way you’ll never know just how much they needed.

This musing was written by Amanda Jones, author of Diary of a Freelancer, a freelance creative director turned film-maker, turned artist.  Through her own lived experiences in the creative industry, Amanda approaches life and her work at her own pace and with kindness.

When she discovered the kindness approach actually worked (yes even in business!), Amanda found herself living her dreams and that felt a lot like cracking the code of life.

Then the words arrived.  Thoughts clicked into aphorisms, that spilled into scribbles. Diary of a Freelancer was unveiled.

The Diary of a Freelancer is a refreshingly left of centre take on work and life.  It is a balm to the soul and a companion for big dreaming.

Amanda refers to these musings as exerts of her own mind, her own raw, authentic diary.

Owning Diary of Freelancer myself, I often found myself flipping through these pages, resonating with the truth and realness of her scribbles, spelling mistakes and all.

Looking through each and every page… I couldn’t help but feel the scribble of page 44 would be the perfect musing to capture the vision for franklythelabel.

I asked Amanda what the tee meant to her, and true to her articulate, authentic being, her words spoke volumes.

To me the ‘in line’ tee is about movement and flow. I wrote this aphorism as a sort of tongue-in-cheek rebellion to perfection, which I see as one of the greatest resistances to movement. I envision you wearing this tee on the days you are ready to make some waves and get sh*t done or take it slow and find a low groove. I also love that if anyone asked to read it, you have to do a sort of side movement for them to read the cheeky ending.’

I am beyond excited to share these words and see how the power of what you wear, and an everyday basic, can change your outlook on a day.

It is a beautiful reminder to stay in your own lane and leave comparison aside. You are always where you need to be.
